LCAT (LaGrange County Area Transit) is the only public/rural transportation (demand response) provider in LaGrange County. This program is available to any LaGrange County resident or visitor of LaGrange County. Services are available to/from any destination inside the county and any destination outside the county within an approximate 60 mile radius.
Senior citizens, age 60 and over ride for a suggestion donation within the county. Everyone traveling outside of the county will be charged the $1.25 per mile, regardless of the reason.
Arrangements for transportation should be made at least 48 hours in advance, if possible. Out of County trips should be booked at least a week in advance, if possible, or as soon as a client is aware of the need. This does not guarantee availability. Trips can be booked by contacting 463-4161 between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
LCAT has 14 well equipped vans. Vans are clean, well maintained and inspected daily. LCAT drivers are professionally trained on all aspects of vehicle safety and have special training for assisting clients with wheel chairs, walkers or other assistance. Drivers are equipped with cell phones for communication with dispatch.

LCAT operates Monday through Friday from 5:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M.. The last pick up that can be scheduled will be 5:00 PM, the last pick up out of the county will be 4:00 pm.
Service will not be available in observance of normal holidays or on the weekends.

Out of county rates will follow public transportation pricing. Nobody will be denied service due to inability to pay within the county. All Medicaid clients are required to schedule their trips with the appropriate Medicaid source!

LCAT Riders (Public Transportation)
- Local Trips within 0-4 Miles: $4.00 each way
- Local Trips 5-9 Miles: $7.00 each way
- Local Trips 10-15 Miles: $10.00 Each Way
- Local Trips 16-20 Miles: $12.00 each way
- Outside of the county rates are $1.25 per mile thanks to gas prices and our insurance
*Exceptions may be made if time permits for additional stops if approved from dispatching!
SCHEDULING
Trips should try and be scheduled at least 48 hours in advance when possible. LCAT prints the schedules their schedules for transportation every day by 2:00 PM. All trips, changes, and/or cancellations should be made 48 business hours if possible. We do try and fit in all trips, please call and see if it is possible and if you have an emergency, please call the regular office number after hours and there will be a number to call to cancel your trip if it's within 24 hours of that schedule trip.
Scheduling Hours are between 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday -Friday. To schedule a trip, call (260) 463-4161. When calling to make an appointment, have the following information with you:
For medical appointments, please have the doctor's name and know approximately how long the appointment will last. If you're traveling to Parkview Regional Medical Center, St Joe Hospital, Lutheran Hospital, or any other large medical complex, please have an entrance or building number if available. Pick up times are scheduled to allow us to pick you up as close as your appointment as possible. LCAT has a 10 minute window. It is possible for us to pick you up 10 minutes before your scheduled pick-up time or 10 minutes after you scheduled pick-up time. If necessary, please cancel your ride appointment as soon as you know you will not be riding. There is an answering machine available if you need to call after business hours. Cancellations must be reported in 48 hours advance to avoid be charged for the trip. Please note LCAT is a shared transportation service. You may have to wait while other clients are being picked up or dropped off before arriving at your destination. |
Service Animal/Pet Policy
Services animals are permitted to accompany individuals with disabilities on LCAT vehicles. Pets may be transported with the passenger if the pet is in a pet carrier (kennel style) designed for the containment of the pet (when possible). When the trip is scheduled, passengers must notify the dispatcher that a service animal and/or pet will accompany the individual.
